Strategic State Workforce Investment Plan for
Title I of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998
and the Wagner-Peyser Act

[Workforce Investment Act Information]

The Texas Workforce Commission (Commission) has prepared a new Strategic State Workforce Investment Plan (plan) for the Title I Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) and the Wagner-Peyser Act.

The plan comprises two distinct parts. Part I details an assessment and review of the Texas workforce system and its associated objectives, and how the objectives align with national strategic priorities.

Part II, a set of appendices, includes responses to detailed operational questions regarding state structure, funding, target populations, and service delivery efforts that the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) requires.

The Commission approved the plan on March 2, 2007, and provided it to the Texas Workforce Investment Council (TWIC). TWIC recommended the plan for approval by Governor Rick Perry. The Governor approved the plan on March 23, 2007. DOL conditionally approved the plan on June 29, 2007. DOL lifted the conditional approval on October 30, 2007.
