1. Can I register by telephone?

No. All registrations must be mailed in advance of the conference or made in person on the day of the conference. Please be sure to include your $85 check with mailed registration forms. Cash or checks are acceptable at the door.

2. Is space still available?

There is obviously a limited amount of seating for each conference. However, we rarely have to turn employers away. The earlier you register the more likely you will be able to reserve yourself a spot. We always have some no-shows so walk-ins can normally obtain a seat. If you send in a registration form for a conference that is already full, we will return your money and make every effort to notify you of the problem in advance of the conference date.

3. Will I receive continuing education credit for attending the conference?

One organization has agreed to provide certified continuing education for attending a Texas Business Conference: Certified Public Accountants receive 6 hours of credit by attending. Attorneys DO NOT receive continuing education credits for attending. However, many attorneys find our conferences useful.

4. How do I get to the conference?

That is not an easy question for us to answer because we don't know where you are coming from. However, we provide online, a complete list of the cities, addresses and telephone numbers of all the facilities where the conferences will be held. Staff from each conference facility should be able to assist you with directions.

5. Can I pay with a credit card?

Not yet. However, we are currently working on a project that would allow online registration and credit card payment at some point in the future.

6. How are conference topics selected?

Topics are selected based on most common phone call inquiries we receive from employers. Neither the conference nor our office handles inquires about COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA or other similar insurance or retirement/pension topics. The conference also does not address labor unions or collective bargaining issues. Because all of the aforementioned topics are highly technical, they do not lend themselves to the high volume of business done in our office. If you have problems or questions in these areas, we strongly recommend that you hire private legal counsel to assist you.

7. Can the individual topics or topic times listed on the tentative agenda change?

Yes. We send out a tentative agenda with our mailed invitations. We try to stick with that agenda at the actual conference. However, due to occasional scheduling conflicts of our speakers and the travel variables that can arise, we sometimes have to substitute a topic or change the time of an individual topic. We attempt to keep changes to a minimum.

8. I can't attend, but I would like the conference materials. Can I order them separately?

No. Most of the written materials in the conference notebook are designed by our speakers to be used in conjunction with their oral presentations. The materials are best understood in the context of the presentations. For this reason, we do not provide the written materials to individuals who do not attend the conferences. However, you can send a substitute in your place to the conference. It helps if your substitute brings your confirmation letter with them to the conference.

9. I've already registered, but now I can't attend. Can I obtain a refund?

No. Most of the costs associated with the conference have to be paid regardless of whether a registrant attends or not. For example, rental fees for the conference facility, food guarantees, travel costs of the speakers and shipment of materials has to be paid even if some individual registrants decide not to go. However, you can send a substitute in your place to the conference. It helps if your substitute brings your confirmation letter with them to the conference.

10. What should I wear to the conference?

We suggest "business casual". Since not everyone will be comfortable at the same room temperature, some attendees find that bringing a sweater is good idea.
