About the Appeals Department


Mission Statement

The principal mission of the TWC's Appeals Department is to conduct hearings and issue written decisions in regular unemployment insurance benefit appeals and in other, special unemployment insurance programs such as the Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) Program, the Trade Readjustment Assistance (TRA) Program, and the Extended Unemployment Compensation Program. The Appeals Department is also charged with responsibility for hearings and decisions in the Child Care Management Services Program, recently transferred from the Department of Human Services, as well as TWC's grievance process.

Appeal Tribunal Hearing Officers

The function of the hearing officer is to hold the hearings and issue the decisions required by the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act.
