Effective July 1, 2007, changes for TWC Rule 815.107(a)(3) went into effect requiring employers reporting wages for 10 or more employees to file electronically (using Unemployment Tax Services Internet wage reporting, QuickFile, or magnetic media).

Who can submit Internet quarterly wage reports?

Employers with 500 or fewer employees in a quarter can use Unemployment Tax Services to submit their quarterly wage reports. Accessing Unemployment Tax Account FAQ provides more information.

What are the core features of Unemployment Tax Services Internet wage report filing?

  • Adjust Wage Reports. Amend employee name, wages or Social Security Numbers that were reported incorrectly.
  • Increased employee reporting capability. Report up to 500 employees.
  • Wage record file upload. Upload employee wage details from a file (a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or a comma-separated file).
  • Save as incomplete. Save an in-progress report and complete it later.
  • Sort employee information. Employee lists are sortable by name or Social Security Number.
  • Taxable wages calculation. The system calculates the taxable wages for each employee for the quarter being reported, based on their Social Security Number.
  • Social Security Numbers required. Each employee wage record must have a valid Social Security Number, to allow taxable wages to be calculated. Each Social Security Number must be unique to that quarterly wage report.

What are the due dates for quarterly wage reports?

Reports must be submitted before 12:00 a.m. (midnight) Central Time on the due date. If the due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday on which TWC offices are closed, the report is considered timely if it is submitted on the following business day. Late reports are subject to penalties.

Domestic employers filing annually must submit their wage reports and unemployment tax payments by January 31 for the preceding year.

Can I view a quarterly wage report after I submit it?

Yes, submitted wage reports are available for viewing via the Report Filing tab in the Unemployment Tax Services system.

How do I correct information on a quarterly wage report after it has been submitted?

To correct a quarterly wage report that has been submitted, you must file a wage adjustment report.  Corrections or adjustments can be filed online or by submitting Adjustment Report forms. 

File an online wage adjustment report by logging on to Unemployment Tax Services, select the Report Filing (C3) tab, select the Wage Adjustment Report link, and then select the quarter report period to be adjusted.

What are the payment options, if I submit the quarterly wage report online?

Payments can be made using the Automated Clearing House (ACH) debit method, credit card, or check. ACH debit payments can be scheduled in advance of the actual payment date. Credit card payments can be made using American Express, Discover, or MasterCard. A remittance form is also available, if the employer prefers to pay by check.
