2.7     Federal Certification Requests

Federal Certification Requests are received from either the employer or the IRS. The certification letters are requested and then produced in the next Tax run. Copies are sent to the Field Tax Operations, Refund Unit for review then mailed to the employer and the IRS. Employers may request 940 certifications through the UTS system or by E-mail to the Tax Department.
