Chapter 10:  Account Numbers

comments to: Tax Department

10.1     Account Numbering

[ 10.1.1 - Account Number Series ]

The Texas Workforce Commission (FKA Texas Employment Commission) began assigning account numbers to regular taxed employers in 1936, beginning with account number 000,001. In 1972, changes in the TUCA led to the establishment of blocks of account numbers reserved for special categories of employers.

Account numbers for regular taxed employers are assigned by Entity ID (Revenue and Trust Management), Unemployment Insurance Support Services (UISS) and Tax Department employees using special screens on the PC. Account numbers above 99-880,000 are assigned by the Status Operations Unit (SOU) and keyed by Data Entry before they appear on the Employer Master File (EMF).
