3.0 Refunds and Compliance Functions
The units functions include:
- Reviewing, approving and processing refund requests of overpaid tax amounts;
- Informing employers about Electronic Funds Transfer requirements
- Providing support to Tax personnel by typing individually dictated letters and memoranda, and providing clerical assistance,
- Compiling Employer Account Abstracts annually to certify to Internal Revenue Service employer reported wages and tax payments.
- Compiling Employer Account Abstracts on a daily basis to certify to Internal Revenue Service employer reported wages and tax payments based upon special requests from employers or tax personnel.
- Responding to requests from Field Tax Accounts Examiners and letters from employers to mail photocopies of Employers Quarterly Reports and other Tax Department documents. This process requires coordinated with the Controller Department for proper accounting and deposit of photocopy fees.
- Notifying employers and their representatives when wages lists are not submitted or are submitted using an improper format.
