New Hire Reporting Saves You MoneyEvery time you provide information to the State of Texas New Hire Program about your newly hired or rehired workers, you help state agencies detect and prevent fraud and recover overpayments.
Federal and State laws require employers to provide, within 20 days of the effective hire date, information about all new or rehired workers to the Employer New Hire Reporting Operations Center in the Texas Office of the Attorney General.
Reporting is easy! You can provide information by mail, fax, telephone, magnetic tape or diskette, or preferably through the internet, using online reporting, electronic file transfer (FTP), or downloadable shareware - visit http://employer.oag.state.tx.us/ for details. How it Works: The New Hire information provided by employers is compiled into a statewide database, where it is compared with lists of people applying for Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits or with outstanding overpayments. If a UI claimant's name appears on both lists, the Texas Workforce Commission will investigate and, if the person is either working while claiming unemployment benefits or in default of amounts owed, the agency will take action to stop benefits and recover any overpayments.
